Today you’ll learn how to start hitting a solid draw.
This is the fifth video of my groundbreaking “The Move” course…
And the main goal is to fine-tune your shots.
Now at this point in the course…
…you’ve worked through the drills, and you’re getting your club more shallow in the downswing…
…and you’re really getting that lead wrist bowed.
The good news is that you’re starting to fix your slice.
However, it’s likely that you’re starting to turn the ball over a bit too much…
Maybe even starting to hook the ball.
And that’s EXACTLY what our goal was when we started…
Develop the “pro” miss and then fine-tune from there.
So, you have absolutely nothing to worry about…
In this video, you’ll find out how to fine tune your swing for fairway-splitting shots.

Hi guys, and welcome back. Now if you’ve done your job to this point, you’ve worked through the drills in this series, you should be really getting that club to turn down, shallow out, and you’re getting those low draws that are almost turning over a little bit too much.
Now if you’re not overturning the ball, if the ball isn’t hooking, starting to over hook, don’t worry about this video. This is for those of you specifically who are maybe overdoing this drill.
It’s good medicine, but you can’t take the whole bottle forever, we’ve got to tone it down a little bit, and we’re going to get it straightened back out so that now you can get a good straight ball that’s still compressed, or even a little bit of fade if you want to.
So up until this point, let’s imagine this is down my target line here, and I’m going to go ahead and play that draw like we’ve been doing.
So I’ve shallowed out the club, my hands are rotating to close this club face here, and as I’m coming down, that’s very closed and my club is working on out.
As I’m coming through, you may even feel like your hand, the logo of the back here, left hand, is going to turn over like this as I’m coming on through. That’s really getting that club to rotate on around and get this hook like we talked about.
The palm of the right hand is doing the same thing, almost like the pet the grass drill where it’s rotating this way, but the palm stays down to the turf.
That’s really going to get that club turning over. That looks like this as we’re doing that. That’s an extreme version of what we’re doing up into this point.
As we start to overdo that, now we’re going to get the ball to turn over right to left a little bit too much, we’ve got to straighten that out.
We’re just going to tone down what we’ve been doing. So let’s go ahead, we’ve been coming a little bit inside out, let’s go ahead and have the visual that we’re coming a little bit outside in.
So we’re not going to come in quite as shallow, quite as delofted, we’re going to feel like we’re lining up a little bit more to the left.
My feet are lined up a little bit more to the left. As I make my downswing, instead of turning the wrists down a ton, we’re going to turn them just a little bit more, so the face isn’t closing quite as much.
As we’re halfway down, instead of the club face being way closed like this, it’s just going to be a little tiny bit closed, not very much at all. Then as you come through, just a little bit less forward shaft lean.
So we’re still going to have a little bit of forward shaft lean, but instead of having 15° or 20° really overexaggerating it, we’re just going to have a few degrees so that we can compress the ball, but it’s going to go a little bit higher.
As we put all three of those things together, then we’re going to feel like we play a bit of a cut, so we’re going to feel like this ball starts out left to right, and then fades back into the fairway.
Now if you’re used to really delofting, compressing the heck out of the ball, getting it to really release and getting that big hook coming in there, or some big hooks coming in there, even though you feel like you’re playing a cut, it’s going to end up being about dead straight and that’s what we want.
Just keep on doing a little less closing, so we’re going to eventually if we feel like we close a little bit less and it’s still hooking, we’re going to do even less.
If I feel like the face comes in a little bit more open, a little bit less forward shaft lean, and we’re going to swing a bit more to the left. If I do this correctly, I should have basically a dead-straight shot or a bit of a fade.
Again, it’s OK to open your stance a little bit as you’re doing this also. That’s going to help you as you’re trying to tone this down.
So we’re basically going to be making a cut swing, and we’re going to watch our ball flight to see is it still turning over?
If it’s still turning over right to left, less open, more swing to the left. Then we’re just going to watch our ball and see how the ball flight takes off.
Let’s see if we can get a nice, straight one here, but still good and compressed. There we go, so I felt like I played a little bit of a cut shot, that ball turned over a few yards from left to right, got it straightened back out.
I can just kind of fine tune that. Do I want a little bit more draw? Do I want to compress it even more?
I’m going to shallow it out, turn it down even more, and then release that club this way where my hands feel like they’re doing this through contact versus this through contact which would be the scoopy no-compressed.
If I start to overdraw it, then I’m going to feel like I do a little bit less. The face is going to be slightly more open. Again, it’s a feeling not really what’s happening, you’ll still be a little closed.
A little bit less forward shaft lean, so I get that good ball flight. I’m going to fine-tune that until I find that really compressed, nice hard-hit shot.
For most of you guys, go ahead and play with that overdrawing it a little bit. You’re going to love the way it feels. Your handicap’s going to go down, and you’re going to feel great.
So good luck to you guys. Work hard on these drills, good luck straightening that out and hitting those laser-like compressed golf shots. I’ll see you guys very soon.
