Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below are a bunch of common questions about our instructional system and site. If you need technical support, check out this page instead.
What exactly is the "Top Speed Golf System"?
The Top Speed Golf System is the result of over 10,000 hours of studying and teaching the golf swing.
When you analyze the swings of any top player in the world -- whether it's Jim Furyk, Adam Scott, or anyone else -- there are 5 aspects they all have roughly in common:
- Stable & Fluid Spine
- Power Turn
- Top Speed Lag
- Compression Line
- Straight-Line Release
I have found that these 5 pieces will give you 95% of your results.
My system teaches you those 5 aspects in a step-by-step, course-based fashion.
How are you guys different from other instruction?
I'd like to think we stand out from the crowd in at least these ways:
- You'll learn the moves that REALLY matter in golf. You won't waste your time with thousands of debilitating thoughts on things that won’t help your performance. Here, you'll focus on the 5 pieces of the swing that actually improve your game.
- The instructional level is "just right" 🙂 What I mean by that is you usually get either 1) quick tips that will supposedly turn your game around overnight, or 2) so much technical detail that your brain gets in your body's way and you have to spend years mastering all the minutiae. Here, you focus on the 5 principles that drive 95% of your swing's results.
- You'll improve your technique faster because I've got a background in sports biomechanics and teaching people how to move just like the pros.
- You'll get an easy-to-follow, course-based system on the site. I don't throw a bunch of random videos at you and expect you to figure out how to synthesize it. Nope, I'll walk you through each piece, step-by-step.
- You're going to be treated right and respected here. Our belief is that you take care of those who take care of you. That means, among other things, that we won't push a bunch of junk products on you just to make a buck.
If you can think of something I missed, let us know! (You can use the form on the right side of this page.)

Is your membership worth the price?
First of all, keep in mind that if you purchase anything from us and don't think you got your money's worth, we'll refund you. I would never want to take money from you and not feel like I gave you way more in return.
Just contact us within 365 days of your purchase, and you'll get a refund immediately if you aren't satisfied.
Second, our free content alone is worth more than we charge for the entire paid system -- and the free stuff just scratches the surface of what you get once inside.
Last, you can have full access to our entire system for 4 years(!) for the price of just one in-person lesson with me. And I share way more in the system than anyone could ever cram into a one-hour lesson!
What's Clay Ballard's background?
Well, I consider myself a good ol' boy from Kentucky.
But I suppose you're more interested in my golf background, huh? :-)
I've played professionally and taught golf for several years now.
My focus has been on understanding biomechanics, golf swing physics, learning research, and other technical stuff...
...and then making that crucial information accessible -- without all the jargon, of course -- through video instruction to you and my other students.
For a much more thorough background, check out the About Us page here.
How does this compare to what you've taught in the past?
The prior system I worked with had the goal of teaching students to develop a "perfect golf swing." The idea is that over time you will continually eliminate all of the flaws in your swing.
The difficulty I had with the system is that a lot of these small flaws don't effect your play or your score hardly at all.
For example, Nicklaus had a flying elbow at the top, Greg Norman was across the line, Tiger Woods dropped too much in the downswing, Hogan had a cupped left wrist, and so on.
One thing that I realized over time is that most players spend huge amounts of time practicing the things that don't matter and very little time practicing the things that do matter.
I know that anyone can improve if they can just work on the things that will make the most difference in their swings and results.
It takes a lot of reps and a good amount of time to make any swing change. For example, if you work for 2 months and 10,000 reps to get a perfectly flat left wrist at the top of the swing, after all of that work, you may not have dropped my handicap at all. Even worse, as we get focused on small pieces of the swing, larger and more important pieces, can fall apart.
If you spend the same amount of time working on the "Power Turn" from my system, you may pick up 20 yards on your drives.
My system works with the Pareto Principle, which says you will get most of your results from just a few key things. Based on my experience, five things determine 95% of the results.
With the system that I teach now, I focus on the 5 most important things you can do for your swing for power, consistency, and a lower handicap. You can take Nicklaus, Hogan, Woods, Norman, Palmer, and every other great golfer, and they all do these five things well.
The reason is that those moves matter to the physics of hitting a golf ball well. Yet 95% of all amateur golfers do not do these 5 things!
Learn the few important pieces that all pros do and none of the amateurs do, mix in some hard work, and you'll improve your game drastically.
Do you provide video reviews for members?
We do have an Unlimited Reviews program for an incredibly reasonable price, which you can sign up for after becoming an All Access Member (if there are spots available).
However, there are no free reviews included with the membership.
I would love provide this, but currently I can't offer analysis with the membership.
I'm charging less than $10 per month so that everyone can afford the instructional videos. For that price, I'm simply not able to offer analysis of your swing by an instructor.
Is it safe to use my credit/debit card on your site?
We accept all major credit/debit cards when you're signing up for our All Access Membership. You can safely enter your card details via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information.
Our secure socket layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information including card number, name, etc. so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.
We believe that transmitting encrypted card information through this method is significantly more secure than sending them through a fax, phone call or regular mail (none of which are encrypted and are far more easily intercepted).
In fact, our latest testing showed our "A" rating is higher than the huge bank WellsFargo.com when it comes to securely transmitting data!
We do not store your card information. Stripe, our fully PCI-compliant payment processor stores it. You can find out all about their security safeguards here: https://stripe.com/help/security.

Do you have any non-renewing payment options?
No, and based on prior experience with membership websites, here are some of the reasons why...
- Simplicity: Our experience tells us that over 70% of subscribers choose a renewing plan when given the choice of either option.
- Convenience: When non-renewing subscriptions are chosen, there are often complaints about how challenging it is to remember to renew, get signed back up, etc. Consider a similar service like Netflix. Having to renew that every month would be a real pain, right?
- Savings: As long as you don't cancel your membership, you'll always be "grandfathered" in at the super low rate you signed up at. Your price will never be increased even when we raise it for all the new folks that sign up. On the other hand, if you cancel and sign up again later, you'll have to pay the new, potentially higher price.
- It's a cinch to cancel: It takes about 15 seconds to cancel by finding it in the Subscriptions area on your account page (when you're an All Access Member).
How often do you post new content?
You'll get new stuff from me every week unless something crazy is going on.
Usually, you'll get more than one new video each week, in fact.
Of course, once you get access to all the courses and work through them as they're laid out, you'll have plenty to keep you busy. But I know you like seeing new stuff and won't disappoint you.
What's the best way to go through the system?
While I recommend that you go through each course in the Top Speed Golf System in order, video by video...
...I don't force you to. You can skip around as much as you'd like.
Just keep in mind that the videos in the courses build on each other, and it's important to stay focused.
Will your videos work on my mobile device (phones and tablets)?
Generally speaking, yes, they should work fine on almost all mobile devices.
We use Vimeo as our video host. They're one of the largest in the world and have to support most everything to stay in business.
However, it's possible there are a few devices out there that don't work or take a little tweaking.
So, if you run into issues...
- Check out our technical support page for recommendations
- If that doesn't help, use one of the contact forms on the site to tell us what you're experiencing. Be sure to include as much info as possible!
How can I get in-person lessons with you?
I focus as much time and energy as I can to give you the best possible website and produce the best golf instructional videos. That allows me to help more people per hour than I can when teaching in person.
Similarly, at this point, I don't currently offer 1-on-1 in-person instruction.
But I do have plans to run a limited number of "clinics" where I can work with several students at once who come to Florida for 2-3 days of intense (and fun) training.
Those will be announced via email and on the site. So, stay tuned!
For now, jump into the online system, where you'll get way more instruction from me at a much lower price than an in-person lesson!
How easy is it to cancel?
It's super simple!
While I'll hate to see you leave, the last thing I want to do is keep you here if you don't want to be. You deserve better than that.
Also, I personally hate it when membership sites I use make it hard to cancel, so I made sure there's a simple process:
- Go to Your Account Page.
- Click "Cancel" Next to Your Subscription.
- Click "Cancel Membership" on the Next Page and Confirm It.
- Done! Told you it was easy 🙂
Here's the link to your account page if you need it (All Access Members only): http://topspeedgolf.com/myaccount/
Is my information safe on your site?
I am confident we have taken all reasonable measures to keep your data and computer safe.
We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) help prevent anyone "listening" in as your sensitive data is shared with our payment processor. (Our latest check shows that our site has an "A" rating from the Qualys SSL server test.)
We don't store your credit card details. Our fully PCI-compliant payment processor, Stripe protects that data.
We also will not sell your data to any third parties. That's my promise to you.
Now that you know your info is safe, don't hesitate to become an All Access Member today!
If I start with a monthly membership, can I switch to annual later?
Anytime you want to enjoy the annual discount, you'll have a link on your member home page to quickly switch plans.
How do I purchase a gift membership for someone else?
Gifting is very easy as long as you already have a membership account. (Non-members cannot use this process.)
You purchase the gift. We give you a link that you send to your friend. They click it, register, and thank you profusely!
Is this site related to TopSpeedTennis.com?
When I was forced to take a year off from golf instruction, I decided to apply my instructional abilities to my other passion: tennis.
How am I able to do both?
Lots of caffeine 🙂
Actually, it all comes down to body mechanics being very similar in many sports, especially golf and tennis.
My biomechanics expertise in golf translated well to tennis.
I created TopSpeedTennis.com to share my unique tennis instruction in a similar way as this site.
Check it out if you like tennis. The site has step-by-step courses and a vault area, just like this one.
Are there any discounts if I join both TopSpeedGolf.com and TopSpeedTennis.com?
Not at this point.
I wanted to make my instruction accessible to darn near everyone in the world; so, I've already priced both sites about as low as I can go.
I'm pretty sure you'll find that paying the listed price for both represents incredible value when compared to other options.
Of course, if you disagree, I'll be happy to honor the 365-day money-back guarantee.
