In this video, you’ll discover how to hit dead-straight shots.
This is the final video in the Top Speed Golf “The Move” Series.
Here’s a quick recap of the series…
In the first few videos, I wanted you to really focus on exaggerating the shallowing out of your club in the downswing, bowing your lead wrist, and really trying to hook the ball.
The goal is to focus on overdoing it.
Once you found the opposite extreme of slicing, then your goal is to find the middle ground.
And in this video, all that you’ve learned in the series is tied together by focusing on the checkpoints of the swing – your arms, wrists, hips, club face, and more.
All this comes together to put you in a great position to produce tons of ball compression.
The kind of compression that causes your ball to explode off the club face!
The great thing about “The Move” series is that you’ll discover what exactly is going on when you do experience a mishit and have the ability to correct yourself on the next swing.
Watch this video now to learn how to swing like the pros…
And to blast your shots with tons of compression!

Hi guys, and welcome to the final video in The Move series. I want to recap on what the Move series is all about, and give you one final drill, one final tip to really help you to fine tune this, and to find that middle ground in the end.
So first off, let me talk about where we started out with this series, and this series is really designed to field the extremes.
I see a lot of players struggling, coming down very steep in the downswing, the face is too open in the downswing, and then we struggle kind of not really compressing that golf ball.
We get the shots that float up, we get shots that tail off to the left, and we’re really not compressing and getting those pro-type misses.
First off, we want to really find these extremes, and that’s what the first few videos in the series were about. We really want to get that club to really flatten out.
We want to get the left wrist to really bow, to start to close that club face down, and to come a little bit inside and get that pro-miss, where we overdraw the ball, even hook the ball.
We actually want to go to that extreme, start hooking the ball so we can find that end of the spectrum, and now we have both ends, both extremes.
Number one, we’re coming in too steep, we’re a little bit over the top. Number two, we’re coming in very, very shallow, very bowed left wrist, and really compressing the heck out of that ball, getting that low penetrating ball flight, really de-lofting the club as we’re coming through here.
Then we can find that middle ground afterwards, so we don’t want to skip right from coming in a little bit from over the top straight into trying to find that middle ground.
We need to find that other extreme so we have a better idea of where our club is, and we can improve a lot faster this way.
If you haven’t been able to find that extreme position yet, go back, go through those early videos, really get that club to flatten out, really get this club de-lofted and bowed on the wrist. Then we can tone it down from there.
So after we’ve done that, I want to kind of recap on how this fits in with the System. So this isn’t the sixth fundamental to the Top Speed Golf System, this is a unique pattern I’ve seen a lot of pro players, or pretty much all pro players shallow out this club.
I see a lot of players that really struggle with this, so this is one of the most popular things that I see happening, and that’s why I put it in with the System section, just so we realize just how important this is.
I know it’s a big struggle for many players out here, but it’s not to kind of be any different from the System itself. So this fits in exactly with what we’re talking about in the System.
As we start to get lag, we need to shallow that club out. If we look at my angle of lag here, let’s imagine my club is very steep, then we can see that my club shaft is straight up and down, it’s not going to look like I have very much lag there.
Well, as I start to flatten that club out, now all of a sudden it looks like I have a lot more lag. So this fits directly in with the Top Speed Golf lag system that we talked about.
Also with the straight line release, in order to get that club to have some forward shaft lean and to release that in front, we need to have this left wrist a little bowed, or even flat as we’re coming through there to release on out in front. So it ties in directly with our lag and our release that we go in over the system.
Now let’s talk about, after we’ve found these extremes, and we’re kind of finding this middle ground, we had a video on how to straighten it out a little bit. But we want to talk about what are we really seeing here with the pros.
As we come to the top of the swing, I know in one of the videos I used an example of Dustin Johnson, who is very, very bowed. That’s a very extreme position, that’s kind of taking it too far.
Most pros that you’re going to see are going t have a little bit less of a bow in their wrist. So at the top of their wrist is almost going to be slightly cupped or a little bit, almost dead flat. As they start down, you’re going to see a very, very slight bow as you make the downswing.
Then as they come through impact, again, you’re going to see a very, very slight bow angle, almost dead flat. Then as you come through the shot, that’s going to be nice and flat as I come to my straight line release.
Then it’s going to go ahead and fold on up, so after I’ve come through contact, I have my flat wrist, a slight bow, that’s that middle ground we talked about. That’s where we want to end up being. Then I’m going to release that out in front.
If you get a little bit too much, you’re over-bowing it, hey, that’s a good problem to have. Again, that’s that pro problem. Most people if they’re pros, they tend to get too bowed, too much from the inside and really release that club hard. Think of like a Sergio Garcia.
So finally, let’s take this drill to find that middle ground, and what I want you guys to do is let’s go to the top and make some check points here.
As I go to the top of my swing, I want that left wrist to be nice and flat. It’s OK to be slightly, slightly cupped here. As I’m working down, that’s when it’s really going to start to bow a little bit or get at least dead flat.
As I’m halfway down, I want to make sure my hips are clearing out of the way here. I don’t want to have my hips back and just be kind of putting hands into a position. I’ve got to get my hips leading the way, they’re coming down.
At this halfway down point, I should see this wrist dead flat or just slightly bowed would be good. I can show you some pro examples of that, flash a few of those up on the screen, see that those are nice and flat wrists. Club face slightly closing down.
Then from here into contact, I’m letting the hips clear out of the way again, I’ve got that nice forward shaft lean, and I’m compressing the ball very, very well.
Also as you’re making your downswing, if I do this correctly, this is kind of tough to do in slow motion, but my club shaft should be basically matching my forearm.
So if I’m shooting from the camera angle down my toes toward my target in the distance, you’ll be able to see that club matching my forearm as I’m making that downswing. That’s going to tell you that you’re really nice on plane.
If we overdo this a little bit, get a little too flat, well now that club could be under my forearm, and we’ll see how that’s a little too far from the inside. Go ahead and get that extreme, that’s OK as we’re starting out we can always come back to that middle ground in this vide.
So again, let’s recap on these check points. Go to the top, nice and flat. As you start down getting a slight bit of bow in the hand, club shaft is coming down the forearm getting some good forward shaft lean.
I’m letting these hips clear out of the way, and as I come on through, nice full finish. So if we hit those check points, we’re going to be able to hit some good, solid shots just like we see with our tour pros, really shallowing out that club and compressing the golf ball.
There we go, guys. Hit that one nicely. Good luck to you all. Work on the drills, see you all soon.
