Hi guys, so I’ve got a great chipping game for you all to maximize your birdies.
One of the most common ways to make birdies on the golf course, the way probably 70 percent of your birdies are going to happen, you get on a par 5, you hit it close to the green in two, and then you need to chip up close for a tap-in to get that birdie.
That’s the way most of the guys on the PGA tour make the majority of their birdies, that’s the same way it’s going to happen for you.
So now we have a game called the inside the club game, where I’m going to start with five balls.
I’m going to space them out different areas around the green, and I’m going to start out by chipping to the hole.
Now as I do this, my chip shot needs to get within a club-length from the hole as I finish. I’m going to go ahead and try one out.
There we go, it rolled out, and we can see that’s with inside a club length.
So if I want to check this, if it’s maybe a close one, I’m going to set my club just inside the club, then I’m going to pull it back, and if any part of my ball, even just a millimeter of my ball is overlapping the grip, then that’s going to count as a point.
So I’m going to chip all five balls, and to move on to level two, I need to have at least one point from those five shots in different areas.
So level one, we’re going to start 15 feet from the hole, and we’re going to get a score of one out of five to move on to level two.
Level two we’re going to go 25 feet away from the hole, which is about what I have here, and we’re going to do five more shots.
Again, from varying spaces around the green, and we have to get at least a one out of five to move on to level three which is 40 feet from the hole.
If you go to level two and you don’t get at least one point, you’ve got to go back to level one and start over again.
Also, if you make the shot it counts as two points, and that’s going to be really handy as you start to make the game more and more difficult.
So we’re starting out with one point out of five shots, we can go two out of five, three out of five, four out of five is going to be really good.
That’s when you’re going to get to around scratch golf at your local club, and five out of five, that’s PGA tour pro quality.
So if you can get a five out of five score, that’s going to be fantastic.
Again, vary these shots, really work on this, this is where you’re going to maximize your birdies, and you’re going to start chipping really close to the hole if you practice this regularly.
Good luck to you guys, I’ll see you all soon.
