In this video, you’ll learn how pro golfers use the Stable Fluid Spine in their golf swings.
(Not sure what the “Stable Fluid Spine” is? Check out the #1 key to consistency in golf here.)
Even if you see a pro swing that appears unorthodox or inconsistent…
For example, Bubba Watson’s swing…
What’s really important to notice is that those players keep their spine angle stable throughout the swing.
And that’s really important for making consistent contact.
In addition to seeing Bubba’s swing, you’ll also see the spine angle at impact for many more top pros.
Notice that they’re all tilted back a bit at impact.
Typically, the spine angle at impact is around 25 degrees for pros.
You don’t need to tilt exactly 25 degrees but I suggest that you be in the ballpark of that number.
Now, you may be wondering if you need to keep the spine angle in the same spot throughout the swing.
It’s OK to to be a little more upright at address, but I suggest maintaining the same angle, or very close to it, throughout the swing.
That’ll help you with your consistency.
But the main point of this video is to keep your spine angle consistent, even if other parts of your body seem to be out of control.
Bubba’s a great example of this…
It seems nuts that he can hit the ball so consistently with his feet all over the place and with how he swings with such a long backswing.
But Bubba’s consistency is due to his Stable Fluid Spine.

Hi guys, and welcome back. Great to have you here today. In this video we’re going to take a look at how pros use the Stable Fluid Spine throughout the swing.
Even if we see swings that seem unorthodox, that seem inconsistent like Bubba Watson, may not seem to be the most consistent swing out there. If we look at what he’s really doing with the stable pieces of his body, they are very consistent.
Let’s start out by going to impact, or very close to it. Let’s talk about the number one piece in the Stable Fluid Spine. That’s what my spine is doing at impact.
If I go from the center of the hips up through the center of the shirt buttons at the top of the chest, so I’m going from the center of the hips to the center of the shirt buttons, we’re going to see what that angle is.
You can see that’s tilted away from the target, it allows him to release the hands out in front. It allows him to get better power, because now he’s behind the ball.
We’re going to see tht most of your pros are going to be tilted somewhere between 20° and 25°. It can vary slightly.
Let’s take an angle finder here real quick. We’ll see that Bubba is close to 25° there. It’s not that we have to get this exact angle ,but we do need to be in that ballpark.
As we look through a lot of these pros in these videos, we’re going to see those consistent angles over time and time again.
Now earlier in the swing, one of the things that we talk about in the Stable Fluid Spine is getting this slight tilt away from the target at address. Part of that’s because your back arm is lower than your front arm, part of it’s because we want to be slightly behind the golf ball.
You may not see a lot of that in all the pro players, that’s something that I recommend so we can keep it as consistent as possible, but we are going to see that same position at impact.
So it’s completely fine to be a little bit more vertical, especially with your shorter irons at the top of the swing here, we’re going to see that Bubba Watson, not only was he tilted away at address, he’s tilted away at the top of the swing with his back angles tilted away.
Then we already looked at impact, talking about that 25° angle there. So even though his swing looks kind of crazy, he may have the feet moving around. We’ll see that he actually two or three different steps in this swing, his hand’s going crazy positions.
He’s actually really consistent and he’s proven to be a consistent ball striker because of what he does, partially because of what he does with his spine angle throughout his swing is not moving around a lot.
So check that out as you’re watching these pro swings. Check out most importantly, what is that angle at impact. Is that setting him up in a position to where they can be nice and consistent throughout the swing.
Best of luck to you guys, and I’ll see you guys soon. Let’s check out these pro swings.
