All right guys, I’ve got a really fun drill for you today, a good video. This is a Rory McIlroy putting drill.
Now what he did here is he set a straight uphill putt. So just like a lot of the pros that we’re seeing, and I talk about in the system, are finding that straight uphill putt.
Don’t need a lot of break in it at all, you’re trying to find something that doesn’t break whatsoever.
They’re going to set down their eyeline mirror. Here he’s using an eyeline putting mirror. What we’re doing is we’re setting up after we find this straight line.
We’re going to get our eyes right over the top of the ball. I’m going to get my feet, my knees, my hips, my eyes, everything is going to be lined up parallel with this target line.
So I’m making sure I’m rolling these straight putts. Now as I’m putting, I want to make sure I keep that 50/50 balance between my feet, both back and through, and I don’t get any kind of weight shift at all.
So I’m going to be nice and balanced between both feet. I’m also going to make sure that as I go into my finish that I’ll hold my follow through, no movement in the follow through, and that’s going to keep my putter head nice and stable.
I’m also going to keep my hands really, really soft.
This is a great drill, we’re going to learn to get our ball to roll on a true line where we’re lined up. We’re going to get our entire body lined up, we’re going to smooth out our stroke by not moving our weight around, and then we’re going to hold that finish that way we make sure that our stroke is nice and consistent.
What I’m going to do here after this is I’m going to turn on the camera in live speed. I want to play it out, I’m going to see how many that I can get in a row on my first attempt. You guys see if you can beat Rory McIlroy’s record which is 55, that’s pretty dag-gone good, or whatever my record is here in a second.
So work hard guys, go over those key fundamentals, you guys will be putting your best.
(video of Clay putting plays)
All right, 70 in a row. See how many you guys can do. I finished on a make, and see if you guys can break my record of 70 and get to 71. See you guys soon.
