Clay: All right, now so it's time for the final steps, the final drill here. We're going to do exactly where we left off in the indoor drill. So you remember on the indoor drills, I worked through a five step progression. This is basically the final fifth step of that progression. Now we're just going to be hitting a golf ball versus not hitting a golf ball like we did in the indoor drills.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and set up to this golf ball, lean the club shaft on my left leg. Naturally, that's going to get me set up with my hands in front at address. My weight's going to be back on my heels like I mentioned in this course. I'm going to feel like as I'm making this swing, I'm moving through the power position, my club's to the inside.
As I go to the straight line release, that toe of the club is releasing toward the target and I'm in my posture. Now I'm moving through these positions at this point. I'm coming to a good full finish, where I'm stacked on my lead side, all my weight is on my front foot, and my head, as I'm doing that, would be slightly to the right.
I don't want to be all the way over here leaning because that's the opposite of being in my posture. My head is slightly on the right, just like we talked about with Barnard Longer. So I'm making those checkpoints. I'm feeling those things and I'm just making it fluid. I'm moving through those positions, getting those feelings, and then recreating that in a full swing.
And that'll look something just like this.
There we go. That's putting it all together. Make sure you do at least 10 reps with a wedge doing this. Now, if you want to do some bonus work, what I recommend is doing that exact same progression with a middle iron, with a long iron. So you get used to staying in your posture. The main difference there is as you get to longer and longer clubs, the shaft is going to be longer.
So if I lean this club on my left leg, Well, naturally, as I go to a longer iron, I'm going to have to scoot farther away to get that to lean on my left leg. So really this same methodology will work with any club in your bag. The only thing that's changing, as I mentioned before in this course, the ball position moves further up as the irons get longer and you eventually get your driver, but the feelings are going to be the same for the entire thing.
So do at least 10 reps to put it all together, hitting shots. If you still feel like you need a little work with it, or you want to get used to it, go ahead and get a few extra reps in or vary the clubs. You're going to be well on your way. Best of luck. Hope you really enjoyed this course.
