Hi guys and welcome back. I’ve got a quick video for you that are struggling to get that good, full release, and that full rotation through the shot. So we watch really good players, players like Adam Scott, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, who have these free flowing swings.
As they come all the way on through, man, they’re finishing all the way, all their momentum is going into the shot, and their shoulders are rotating all the way on through.
If you notice that these players, their shoulders are actually pointing over here to the left as they finish, and their belt buckle is pointing down the target line.
In today’s video, we’re going to talk about how to allow you to do this. One of the things that makes it really tough to get this good, full finish, the misconception that we need to keep our eye on the ball.
We’ve heard this ever since we picked up a club, is that we want to keep our eye, our head down, and as we swing, we’re going to try to keep our eye on the ball as we come on through. That’s not going to allow us to rotate on through the shot.
What we really want to do, is to allow that head to come up after we make contact and be nice and high in the finish.
Another thing that we can focus in on here, is as my shoulders rotate on through as you see with the really flexible players coming all the way on around. Notice how the right shoulder actually ends up a little higher than my left shoulder as I’m rotating all the way on around.
So what that is allowing me to do, is to extend all the way on around and finish with that shoulder down toward the target line. That’s going to get you coming through there.
Now for you players that are maybe a little bit older, not as flexible, you don’t have to go quite that far, but what we do want to do is finish with that shoulder coming up nice and high. Maybe you can only get through to here, that’s completely fine.
Belt buckle should be facing to the target, and my shoulder, my right shoulder, coming on around.
Now lastly here, one of the things that we want to focus in on is what our feet are doing, because our feet are going to inhibit our rotation if we do this incorrectly.
So as I’m coming through contact, I want my right foot to be rotating up and the heel is going to start barely coming off the ground as I’m coming through contact. After contact, I’m all the way on around on my right toe, and you can see that just the toe is touching on my right foot.
If you watch pro players as they’re coming through, this left foot is going to rotate out a little bit. As they come through contact that left foot is going to tend to open up a little bit as they drive in from that ankle.
You can do that by starting out in that position, makes it a little bit easier for those of you who feel like you’re kind of stuck in your swing and the follow through.
Rotate your left foot out about 45°, and that’s going to free you up to come all the way on around.
Put these three pieces in together, we’re going to be able to make a nice, fluid swing, better contact, and you’re just going to feel so much more smooth and powerful as you’re out there.
Go ahead and try that out, you guys will be able to get that good, full finish, nice rotation all the way on around. You’re going to be playing better golf. Good luck to you guys, I’ll see you soon.
