Clay Ballard, Top Speed Golf Co-Founder
Hi, Clay Ballard here from Top Speed Golf.
So many of my Top Speed Golf students I’ve helped with my instructional videos, which I can’t believe have now been viewed over 75 million times, are just like 71-year-old, “stiff as a board” Tom Hester.
Or like 41-year-old Jeff Siegel, who told me... “there’s no more guesswork, I no longer have to chase articles on how to gain speed.”
But now Jeff’s added 31.2 yards to his best drives, and Tom picked up an incredible 36.4 yards!
So, what delivered them golf’s “holy grail?” What left their buddies’ mouths gaping open as another drive blew past them?
Well, as I mentioned earlier, #1 on the list below provides the best distance gains time and time again (and fast, too!).
That’s why I cover all the details here!
Well, for the pros and cons of all the most popular distance options out there…
...here are the “Top 5 Ways Golfers Can Add Distance in 2021”...

While there are tons of products that claim to increase your distance...
...unfortunately, I haven't found many that actually pull it off.
In fact, I’ve got a garage full of gadgets and contraptions that well meaning inventors have tried getting me to promote. But 99% of the time, I refuse.
Even the best I've used (and do recommend), like SuperSpeed golf sticks, only provide modest gains, much of those only after months and months of training.
Top Speed Conclusion:
☆☆☆☆
1 Star - Mostly a waste of money, and options below can get you more speed much faster.

Nowhere in golf do you hear more hype about gaining distance than when it comes to new golf clubs and golf balls.
Each year, it seems every manufacturer says the same exact thing: "Our longest driver / irons / balls / whatever yet!"
And to be fair, they may not be lying. But how much more distance can you really get?
Practically none (unless your equipment's several years old).
You see, all the drivers and balls were engineered right up against the USGA and R&A limits long ago. They simply cannot get "hotter" and still be legal.
So each year, they may find some tweak to add 1 to 2 yards or something. But is that really worth spending $500 on a new driver?
Of course not. Now if you find a driver you personally like better than your current one based on feel or forgiveness or any other reason...
...then by all means, buy it if you've got the cash. Just look elsewhere for distance gains.
Top Speed Conclusion:
☆☆☆☆
1 Star - For distance, spend your hard earned cash on one of the options below.

OK, so now we're getting somewhere. I mean, all the long drive competitors are big, strong guys, right?
And more and more of the top PGA Tour guys regularly spend time in the mobile fitness trailers at each event.
Guys like Koepka, DJ, and Rory have gotten a lot of coverage for being buff dudes lately. And this represents a HUGE change from the days of Jack and Arnie, when only Gary Player and a handful of others took fitness seriously.
So, obviously, I'm going to recommend spending time in the gym or yoga studio to you.
But not for distance.
Nope. You should do it because it means you'll be healthier and probably feel better.
I just don't recommend it for hitting the ball farther.
Why not?
First of all, the kind of workouts are a problem. Big distance gains come from super hard, explosive repetitions. You have to do movements like box jumps and other stuff that may not be feasible or even safe without a trainer by your side.
Second, it's hard dang work! There's nothing else on this list that comes close to the grueling hours you'll need to spend honing your key golf muscles.
And last, even if you're capable of doing explosive exercises with a personal trainer and are willing to endure the sweat, pain, and inevitable injuries...
...you can only expect to gain a few mph...
...after months of spending 5 hours per week at the gym.
Top Speed Conclusion:
☆☆☆
2 Stars - Work out, but you should view distance gains as a possible side benefit, not the focus.

Now, I bet you've heard a ton about optimizing your driver launch conditions the past few years. And for good reason.
The new launch monitors like Trackman and FlightScope have provided eye-opening data. In fact, their models show the average male amateur could add about 30 yards without increasing swing speed at all.
And that sounds great! Until you dive deeper into the numbers...
What you find is that the 2 factors most responsible for this potential gain are...
* Smash factor.
* Spin.
But here's the thing...
Smash factor and spin are both mostly determined by where you hit the ball on the face of the club.
So, to get this extra 30 yards, you've got to approach pro levels of club face control at impact. And heck, that's really not even good enough.
In fact, I've reached a handicap of 4 strokes better than par... and I rarely hit the exact sweet spot.
It's just really, really hard to get good enough to hit the sweet spot consistently.
Of course, doing drills to improve your club face control is one of the best things you can do for your game.
And I have an entire course for that called the Ball Striking Masterclass. (I'd love to see you in there one day!) Among many other things, I'll teach you how to check face contact by spraying foot powder on your club face.
But you need to know that's a 90-day course, and it takes 30-60 days before you can make big improvements in your face contact. (And even then, if you're an 8 to 20 handicap player, you're not going to be approaching pro levels of consistency yet, of course.)
So, the bottom line is this:
You should improve your face contact location with drills specific for that purpose, but even after several weeks of training, you won't consistently add anywhere near 30 yards as the data would have you believe. It's just too hard.
Based on our research group with over 100 students, you can expect your average drives to go 11.7 yards farther with face contact training.
Top Speed Conclusion:
☆☆
3 Stars - Doing impact drills will get you nice distance gains in just a few weeks, but there's a way to add even more distance MUCH faster...

OK, so, now you may be confused.
You've reached #1 on my list and are likely thinking to yourself... "What the heck is Neural Adaptation Practice?"
Don't worry. You're not alone.
Neural Adaptation Practice has only recently started changing the landscape of golf instruction...
...even though it's been applied to other athletic movements by trainers and their students for decades.
You can see all the in-depth details by clicking here ...
For now, let’s focus on the part you’re probably at least a little familiar with…
SEQUENCING....
...which is simply the ability to do something smoothly but powerfully and athletically at the same time.
Basically, it’s when all your motions and body parts are synced up.
It’s the main thing your eye picks up on when comparing a beginner’s herky-jerky golf swing with...
say... Freddie Couples’ silky smooth motion.
And the amazing thing is that Titleist Performance Institute found that Freddie’s not alone.
Not even close.
You see, TPI found that ALL great ball strikers…
… Every… Single… One…
...sequences their body exactly the same way between their upper and lower body in the downswing.
So here’s the bottom line:
From a purely technical standpoint…
BETTER SEQUENCING is the reason why pros are both longer AND straighter than recreational players.
And when your sequencing gets better…
...well... my 80-student pilot group showed that distance gains skyrocket...
Without sacrificing accuracy (86% reported IMPROVED or level accuracy).
If you can believe it…
My students used my Neural Adaptation Practice to rapidly improve their sequencing…
...to add, on average, 34.5 yards!
In fact, SEQUENCING THROUGH NEURAL ADAPTATION PRACTICE combined with small technique hacks…
...has proven to add over 15 yards in just one, 20-minute range session.
Let that sink in for a moment.
If you compare the distance gains from SEQUENCING THROUGH NEURAL ADAPTATION PRACTICE with all of the others above...
...it's a "no brainer."
The other methods may -- may -- help you gain 15 yards. And that will take weeks -- more likely months -- to achieve, not 20 minutes.
So it should be clear now why SEQUENCING THROUGH NEURAL ADAPTATION PRACTICE takes the top spot in the 2021 list of "Top 5 Ways Golfers Can Add Distance."
Top Speed Conclusion:
5 Stars - Both science and real world results demonstrate SEQUENCING THROUGH NEURAL ADAPTATION PRACTICE gives you the most distance in the shortest time.
So, if you want to discover how to add 20 to 70 yards off the tee…
...and be blasting way more shots past your buddies within days…
